Hi everyone and welcome back to another edition of
the Hussey Coding blog
Today we continue our mini-series looking at the speakers and tracks coming to us in this year's Meet Magento UK. If you weren't already aware, this year's event is moving online for charity, we have a full post up (HERE), all about what the charities are, the amazing work that they do and how you can support them by getting a pay what you can ticket or by becoming an event sponsor.
This year we have 4 tracks to look at and 7 sessions in each track so let's get started! Today we're looking at the first speakers in both the Merchant tracks and the Technical tracks.
Andy Mulcahy
Merchant Track - 10:15 - 10:50
Optimising Online Retail Performance
With this new dawn of online retail, thousands of businesses are finding their way to the digital platform and those who were already there are having to up their game, even industry giants are needing to rethink, re-educate and redesign the way they do things. But it's one thing to get online and a whole other thing to become successful.
Enhancing the performance of your store is the name of this game, through customer engagement, time management, brand awareness and best practices.
Who's this for?
If you have an online store, are going to have an online store and have a pulse then this is the talk for you because you are never too old or experienced to learn something new.
Who is Andy Mulcahy?
Beginning as a Technical support engineer for Energis and then moving to DSGi Business as a copywriter, becoming an editor at Pendragon and then head of communications at IMRG, Andy is now the strategy & insight director at IMRG and commands almost 15 years worth of knowledge on industry trends and developments. Cloud Scaling Magento - from Basic to Complex
Much like Andy's talk above, this is going to be all about getting the best out of what you have. Now, all I have to go on here is a title so we could either be getting a seminar of Magento Commerce Cloud or how to scale your Magento store that has cloud hosting. What's the difference? Magento hosts the first one for you whereas the second one means you need to find your own hosting company. Given that Amy works at Akoova, a hosting company, I'm more inclined to believe that we're getting the latter.
If I'm right then we are going to be hearing all about the wonderful area of DevOps and how utilizing this young department, you can scale your Magento hosted store to unimagined heights.
Who's this for?
This is the technical track so if you are a newcomer to the Magento ranks this may not be the one for you. If however, you have been around for a while, are looking into hosting, DevOps teams of just love to know how and why stuff works then this is the one for you.
Who is Amy Swan?
Am, who has held positions such as systems administrator at Wirehive and DevOps engineer at UserReplay is currently the DevOps engineer at Akoova, the aforementioned hosting company, making her ideally placed to lead this session.
